FAQS, Climbing at Bear Rock

What if I am nervous about climbing? Can beginners climb Bear Rock?

Luckily, we’ve been teaching for years and know how to support and walk you through your hesitations. Climbing can be as simple as tieing in and taking a few steps on the wall. We never pressure anyone to do something they aren't comfortable with but it is also our job to get you to feel more comfortable.

What if I have some experience and am looking for a challenge?

We do offer mock sport lead and mock trad lead. There is also opportunity for rappelling AND if we have advanced climbers there is a second layer of rock that offers 5.10 and 5.11 climbs

Why do we love GRP? Why climb HERE?

From a climbing aspect, it is extremely rare, almost impossible to find rock climbing on private property. Green River has 3,400 acres of beauty. There are no crowds, a few select employees, and a guarantee not to run into anyone at the climbing crag.

Also, GRP works towards an incredible cause. The mission of Green River Preserve is to provide a challenging and nurturing learning experience and inspire a deep appreciation of interconnectedness, ecological respect, and the joy of living. GRP is a non-profit organization that is generously offering their land to encourage people to get outside.

What if I can’t afford to climb at Bear Rock?

We want nature to be accessible to everyone, please email us at info@mightyboots.org and we will find a way to get you climbing!

Is there camping nearby?

GRP is offering camping at select shelters on property. Green River has discounts available if you climb and camp. Here is the link with more information on camping at GRP

Do you offer team-building for corporate groups?

We know morale is low at some companies right now and are offering a safe and uplifting solution! We offer team-building for companies where we use climbing as a way to boost morale and create a stronger bond between coworkers. Feel good about supporting two different nonprofits and give your employees a chance to be outside and breathe some fresh air.
